Guidelines & Permissions

Before submitting your nomination, please view our existing Lighthouse Keepers – and consider whether the person you are nominating is a medical or health professional** who:

✅ Shares the concerns expressed in The Cape Byron Lighthouse Declaration (e.g. censorship, need for informed consent etc.)
✅ Has a vision for a brighter future – and wants to be part of the solution
✅ Models engaging with others with respect and compassion, especially those who may have differences of opinion or different levels of awareness.

You are also most welcome to nominate yourself!

** We understand that many people other than medical professionals have spoken up – however, in the initial stages, the focus is on health professionals. Our primary aim is to raise awareness of the many with medical expertise who hold views that are very different to government policy.

Our intention is to give everyone a voice.

If you are nominating someone you don’t know personally, please contact them to seek their agreement. We request that you notify the person you are nominating, so that they know who nominated them – and that we may be in touch.

Nomination Criteria

Before you submit your nomination, please confirm that your nominee fulfills the following criteria:

They are a medical / health professional (current or former)?

We understand that many people other than medical professionals have spoken up – however, in the initial stages, we are only accepting nominations for health professionals. Our primary aim is to raise awareness of the many with medical expertise who hold views that are very different to government policy.

We are unable to accept nomination for non health practitioners at this time.

They are one of the lesser known or ‘unsung’ heroes (ie. they do not currently have a large public platform / are not tied to a large organisation)?

There are now many well-known ‘Covid Celebrities’ who have built substantial followings as they continue to raise awareness – we applaud their efforts! Our intention is to raise awareness of the lesser known heroes so that we might encourage other health professionals to find their voices too.

They spoke out / took action during Covid (this includes small actions)?

A Lighthouse Keeper is someone who has warned of danger or helped those during dangerous times. Nominations will only be considered for those who took action, even if only small steps.
